MyoBrace
Myobrace treatment is an early intervention solution for allowing the best possible conditions for your child’s jaws and teeth to grow into their natural position.
It is a preventative and non-invasive pre-orthodontic treatment that focuses on addressing the underlying causes of crooked teeth and managing them by harnessing the natural growth and development of their jaws and teeth.
How it works
It does this using a series of removable mouthguards that are worn for 1-2 hours during the day and overnight. The continuous wear over a period of 12-24 months is pivotal for a good treatment outcome, as are a series of daily muscle activities similar to physiotherapy exercises.

The treatment is best suited to children aged 6 to 10 but younger and older children can also benefit greatly.
The treatment goals are tailored to the individual but with an overall view of:

Correcting poor oral habits such as thumb sucking
Developing & aligning the jaws
Straightening the teeth
Optimising facial development
Improving overall health
Promoting healthy eating habits

This is achieved by teaching your child how to:

Breathe through their nose
Establish a correct tongue resting position
Swallow correctly
Keep their lips together
The benefits of MyoBrace
The muscle habits that contribute to crooked teeth are evident before all permanent teeth are present, which means treating the causes of crooked teeth can begin much earlier than previously thought.

Myobrace together with daily muscle activities are designed to deal with these incorrect muscle habits by teaching children how to breathe through their nose, rest the tongue correctly on the roof of the mouth and to swallow correctly allowing natural widening of the jaws so they grow to their correct size and shape. In turn this allows sufficient room for the teeth to come in naturally straight and sometimes without the need for future braces.
